Evaluation of a Continuing Nursing Education Program in Chonnam Area.

Abstract
|
|
|
The perception, attitude and learning evaluation of a continuing nursing education were studied from April 12 to November 9, 1984. The subjects were 1,045 registered nurses who participated in a continuing education program in Chonnam province. The evaluating tool was designed using a Davina¢¥s conceptual model for evaluating continuing nursing education after pilot study in 1983.
The results were as follows:
1. The percentage of continuing education with the following types were: health assessment, 44.7%; physical assessment, 34.3%; and hospice care 21.0%.
2. The percentage of continuing education with the following providers were: Chonnam Branch of Korea Nurses Association, 44.3%; Chonnam National University Hospital, 27.9 % ; Chosun University Hospital, 18. 1 % ; and Kwang ju Christian Hospital, 9.7%.
3. The percentage of continuing education with the following learning strategies desired were: first aid as content, 26.5%; lecture as teaching method, 31.6%; September and October as teaching period, 62.8%; and 12hours for 2 days as teaching hours, 72.0%.
4. The perception of continuing education was showed positive opinions(90. 1%).
5. Total mean score of effectiveness of education were 3.2 point. The highest mean score among 9 evaluating categories were 3.8 point in achievement of paticipant objectives and the lowest mean score were 2. 8 point in availability of content.
6. The group who were married, older, lower educational level, have not objectives, and have more career showed high mean score in all evaluating categories.
